APSUP is deeply committed to serving society and fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities, recognizing the importance of making a meaningful impact by serving societies especially by alleviating the sufferings in the wake of devastating natural catastrophes.
One notable CSR initiative is Mission Essar, a grand platform established by APSUP to provide assistance to Pakistanis affected by the devastating floods in 2022. APSUP mobilized its member universities and launched Mission Essar across various remote areas of Pakistan. This initiative demonstrated APSUP’s dedication to serving the affected communities and addressing their needs during times of crisis.
APSUP also came afront to extend its sincere support to the Muslim brethren impacted by catastrophic earthquakes in Turkey at the beginning of 2023. APSUP established the Mission Essar Turkiye Chapter, demonstrating its commitment to providing aid and assistance to those affected by the deadly earthquakes. Once again, APSUP members generously contributed funds to assist the rescue and rehabilitation operation in Turkiye.

The effectiveness and impact of these initiatives have garnered appreciation from both national and international stakeholders, highlighting the significance of APSUP’s corporate social responsibility endeavors.
By actively engaging with government agencies, APSUP seeks to facilitate constructive dialogue, contribute to policy discussions, and ensure that the voice of private sector higher education gets represented adequately in decision-making processes. This collaborative approach strengthens the association’s capacity to advocate for policies and reforms that specifically address the unique needs of private sector higher education institutions.
Furthermore, APSUP recognizes the crucial importance of forging strong connections between academia and relevant industries, and actively promotes collaboration between universities and key industry players. By fostering these connections, APSUP aims to bridge the gap between academia and the ever-evolving job market, ensuring that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge demanded by industries.
In addition to local partnerships, APSUP actively seeks collaborations with international organizations to harness global expertise, share best practices, and enhance the international standing of private sector higher education in Pakistan. These international collaborations provide valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, joint research projects, and exposure to global trends and innovations.
Through its extensive network and unwavering commitment to inclusivity, APSUP actively strives to build strong relationships, foster collaboration, and create a supportive ecosystem that drives the growth and advancement of the higher education sector in Pakistan.
One notable initiative undertaken by APSUP is the Academic Excellence Awards, which serves as a means to recognize and appreciate seasoned academicians from both public and private sector universities for their universities’ world rankings. This prestigious event, hosted by APSUP, not only fosters networking opportunities but also embodies inclusivity, as it brings together diverse participants and award winners who highly admire the event.
Another prominent event organized by APSUP is SEE Pakistan, the most celebrated platform dedicated to Pakistan’s entrepreneurial community. APSUP hosted the SEE Pakistan 2022, where aspiring entrepreneurs from APSUP member universities had the opportunity to showcase their startups, learn valuable insights from exclusive panel discussions on entrepreneurship, and compete in a startup championship to secure substantial funding for their ventures to thrive.

Pakistan faced a major disaster in the form of varying intensity of floods across the country and struggled to mitigate its impact. Immediate mitigation efforts were followed by cross-sectoral and cross-regional rehabilitation initiatives. The required magnitude of relief and rehabilitation efforts warranted concerted efforts by all segments of society, which were brought together by the academia. The Superior University rose to the challenge of aligning local, provincial, and national efforts to mitigate and manage this unprecedented national disaster. APSUP undertook the estimation of disaster management needs in an institutionalized manner and gathered real-time information about the need for relief measures. Shelter, food, clothing, and medical aid were provided in a timely and efficient manner. Faculty and students worked hand in hand to ameliorate the situation while reaching out to communities and the affluent. Partner universities established camps for the collection of consumables and cash donations, overseen by committees of their respective officials and partner organizations. Students donated their pocket money, and staff donated one day’s salary to the Mission Esaar Fund. Mission Esaar collaborated with electronic media channels like Neo TV, 92 News, and Lahore Rang to undertake mass awareness campaigns, further streamlining and supporting nationwide relief efforts. Mission Essar’s response teams and thousands of volunteers on the ground have been providing urgent lifesaving humanitarian assistance by relief trucks in South Punjab and KPK. This has been further bolstered by delivering tons of lifesaving cooked food, clean water, food packs, medical aid, tents & tarpaulin shelters, and non-food items to people inaccessible by land. Mission Essar’s medical team, exhibiting teamwork with medical volunteers and doctors, is making persistent efforts to help save flood-affected populations from waterborne and infectious diseases. Furthermore, clean water and dignity kits are being delivered to flood victims, particularly to vulnerable groups, persons with disabilities, women, and girls, to protect them from standing water and infectious diseases.
